Ok, that could be an exaggeration...I should say I hate Bug Bites. Bugs are fine -
Dragonflies are magical. Butterflies are beautiful. Bees are crucial to our survival. It’s those painful bites from Mosquitoes, Horseflies, and Ticks that
I. Really. Hate.
I’m afraid to use chemical filled bug sprays that are mass produced and filled with ingredients that I can’t pronounce and don’t know what affect it will have on my organs...or better yet my daughter’s growing body.
So several years ago I created a body spray (that bugs hate) with all natural plant oils that I feel comfortable using on my family. And although it might need to be reapplied every couple hours - IT WORKS!
It’s amazing how some plants have properties as strong as deet but without the harmful, questionable chemicals.
Now I can’t call this a bug repellent because the government has strong regulations about calling products that - even if they are natural. So I call it Citronella & Lemongrass Spray because it smells great and if bugs happen to dislike the smell and stay away...GREAT! Our Citronella & Lemongrass Spray contains 7 different plant oils mixed in a base spray. And we just added a larger size bottle because people keep asking for more! Give it a try this year and let us know what you think.
Make your own bug spray? We'd love to hear what you use in the comments below.
Matcha Tea is a vibrant, healthy green tea where the whole Tencha tea leaf is ground into a powder and consumed. Why do you want to drink this tea?
High antioxidants help your body fend off disease, slow the aging process, and help your body operate in a healthy, energetic way.
Even better, Matcha helps reduce stress and provides long lasting energy without a caffeine crash.
As with all things, don't be fooled by knock offs that contain fillers or inferior grade tea. Our Matcha is Premium Grade Organic Tea and nothing is added or taken away from it.
We prepare it several ways...as a Hot or Iced Tea, blended with steamed milk as a Latte, or blended with ice and milk as a delicious Smoothie.
Give our Matcha Tea a try and let us know what you think!
Himalayan Salt originates deep below the surface of the Earth where the Primal Sea was evaporated by the sun's energy. Pure Himalayan Salt is said to contain miraculous healing properties for both the environment and our bodies. Genuine Himalayan Salt Lamps help alleviate dust, mildew, humidity, and electromagnetic fields (EMF) from computers, TV's and other electronic devices. By breathing in this clean, healthy air, symptoms of allergies, stress, sleep disorders, and migraine headache have been shown to disappear.
Choose from several styles including Natural Cut in Mini, Small, Medium, & Large; Abundance Bowl which is a bowl made of Himalayan Salt filled with chunks of Himalayan Salt; Feng Shui Basket, or Natural Cut Aromatherapy Lamp which has a place to put your favorite essential oils.
Since the popularity of Himalayan Salt has grown very fast, certain companies created knock-off salt lamps that are not really made from pure Himalayan Salt mined deep in the earth. Please be careful if purchasing a lamp elsewhere. We have been assured by the manufacturer, Himalayan Salt Cart, that these lamps are genuine so you will receive all the benefits of a true Himalayan Salt Lamp.

I was out in my beautiful flower garden last night and the horse flies were buzzing around my head like CRAZY! I wasn't planning on being out for very long so I didn't put on my Citronella and Lemongrass Spray (usually that works well for all bugs). I got so annoyed by those loud buzzing buggers that I wanted to research what essential oils work best to repel them. Plus they bite and it hurts! The top essential oils that I found to repel flies = Lemongrass, Citronella, Eucalyptus, Lavender, and Peppermint. I also wanted to share the Essential Oil List above to help you stay bug-free this summer.
What's your favorite essential oil to annoy the bugs?
You can make beautiful handmade soaps without any artificial ingredients! Natural colors like Sea Clay, Cocoa Powder, Turmeric, Nettles, and Beet Root can be used to color soap and some of them are excellent for skin, too. I usually pick an essential oil to scent my soap first and then think about which colors I imagine when smelling that scent. For Orange obviously I think of different shades orange and white, Patchouli makes me think of earth tones and Lavender brings to mind feminine purples and pinks. Really use your imagination to select herbs and healthy ingredients for soap colors. If you are selling your soap, you must follow the FDA guidelines for coloring soap, but if it's just for you, use anything you want! A general rule of thumb ~ if you can eat it, you can likely put it in soap :)
No time to DIY your own soap right now? We make a line of soaps using all essential oils, naturals colors, and only organic oils and butters called In the Wild. Take a peak and see if any of them sound good to you.
Making healthy choices is hard enough these days with all the flashy advertisements and everyone wanting the latest thing for wrinkles. Shopping for bathroom necessities should not be so difficult! Here's an easy list of 3 things to start checking labels to make sure you are not doing harm to your health and your sweet family's health :)
Yep, that liquid from science class with the brain floating in it. Companies put it in everything as a preservative. Nail Polish, Lotions, Soaps, etc. and the tricky thing is they hide it as a form of UREA. The UREA releases FORMALDEHYDE and our skin soaks it up. You want to avoid this one as it is CARCINOGENIC yet there are no restrictions in the USA on using this ingredient in cosmetics. Let's just keep the Cancer Industry raking in millions because it's not required to tell consumers on product packaging that this beauty will likely cause cancer. Yes, I'm upset and you should be, too.
Sorry guys, this is the thing in Antiperspirant that STOPS you from sweating and it causes tumors, cancer, alzheimers, and more dirty health problems. (Check your kitchen for Aluminum in Baking Powder , too. There are Aluminum-Free brands.) Back to deodorant, No, you don't have to SMELL but sweating is your body's natural way of getting toxins OUT. When you plug up your pores with Aluminum, your body accumulates the aluminum and all your body toxins and wreaks havoc on your whole system. [Try a Natural Deodorant, (after all the aluminum toxins come out of your body) you actually sweat less and the ingredients absorb wetness and essential oils naturally eat up bacteria so you smell fresh and clean.]
These suckers are found under many names that mainly end in paraben : Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, etc. Used as a preservative in everything from face cream to shampoo. Problem with these is they cause hormone disruption. (Have enough trouble with hormone balance already?!) It's a real problem for all of us: stunting growth in kids, altering male reproductive hormones, and messing up women's estrogen levels. Parabens are easily absorbed by our skin and encourage breast cancer cell growth, too.
There are MANY other ingredients that should be avoided that we will get to in future blogs but I wanted to give a start to those of you just learning about chemicals to avoid. I hope this helps you make healthy choices for you and your family.
Please share this blog with those you care about so they can make informed choices, too.
I'd love to hear your comments below. What other ingredients to you AVOID like the PLAGUE? And Why?
Sending Love, Michele

Did you know coffee grounds are effective at scrubbing away unsightly cellulite?! Yep, you can even use the coffee to make yourself a nice cup of joe and then use the grounds that would normally be thrown away in a nice scrubby soap. Plus we can add Grapefruit Essential Oil which has been shown to tighten and tone skin and Shea Butter to help nourish dry, wrinkled skin and add elasticity.
Here’s how to dry your used coffee grounds:
Spread the used coffee grounds out on a cookie sheet and allow to dry. I like to turn the oven on just until it’s hot, pop the coffee grounds in, and turn the oven off. Leave the grounds in the oven while you go to work or run errands. By the time you get home, or after a few hours, they will be dry.
Melt and Pour soap is easy to use, long-lasting and helps your skin stay moisturized. It’s fast and easy to customize. Plus you can use it right away and don’t have to wait for it to cure like cold process soap.
You can find melt and pour soap at some craft stores or order online. Just beware that not all soap is made the same. Some has harsh detergents and questionable preservatives so to ensure the soap you use on your family is the best, buy it here.
Our melt and pour soap is made with organic oils and makes your skin clean and silky smooth. For this Scrubby Soap project, you will need:
--1# Melt and Pour Soap
--1-2 teaspoons Dried Coffee Grounds
--1 oz Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, or other moisturizing oil (optional but awesome on skin)
--8 grams Grapefruit Essential Oil
--Rubbing Alcohol in a spray bottle
--Soap Molds (or recycled plastic containers like yogurt cups, applesauce cups, etc. work well)
--Microwave Safe Bowl
Let’s get to it!
Cut your Melt and Pour soap into approx 1” chunks and put into Microwave Safe Bowl. Microwave for 20 to 30 seconds and then remove and stir. Keep microwaving in short 20 to 30 second bursts and stir until soap is melted. Add 1 oz Shea Butter (or oil of your choice) and stir until melted/incorporated. If soap is hardening too fast, pop back in the microwave for a few seconds. Stir in Essential Oil. Lastly stir in coffee grounds. If soap is too hot, the coffee will sink. Let soap cool slightly so coffee grounds stay dispersed throughout the soap. Pour into molds. Spray the top of freshly poured soap with rubbing alcohol to remove bubbles. Allow to cool completely for an hour or so depending on the size of soap mold. Pop out of the mold and it’s ready to use! (Wrap some in plastic wrap for a cute gift :)
Scrub all over hands and body and especially places where cellulite can show up like backs of legs and buttocks. Great for gardeners or mechanics to scrub off dirt and grime or to soften rough feet, too.

We had the first day of Spring and I see tiny white flakes falling outside my window! Well, that's what happens in Northern Wisconsin,,,we never know when snow might start falling :)
Are you trying to do Spring Cleaning? I like to open the windows and let the stale air out and breathe in the fresh Spring air. Who doesn't, right...but I may have to wait until it warms up a little more.
In the meantime, I've got a few green cleaning tricks if you want to keep that indoor air as non-toxic as possible. Tea Tree Essential Oil is anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. So that black moldy line around the windows (especially in the bathroom) can be shot down by a mix of Tea Tree oil and water. I use a spray bottle dedicated to this solution: 1 cup H2O and 1 teaspoon Tea Tree. Simply spray around windows, let it set for a few minutes, and then wipe away with a paper towel. You can use it in the shower or anywhere else you want to clean (works great in the basement).
Speaking of showers, I make a gentle scrub especially for sinks, tubs, and showers. It's non-abrasive so it won't leave scratch marks. DIY this ~ 1 cup Baking Soda & 1 Cup Castile Soap. Mix well. Add your favorite essential oils. I like Eucalyptus and Lemon for cleaning. It kills bacteria and smells fresh and clean. It's non-toxic and inexpensive to make your own plus you can customize it to your fav scent.
Enjoy the first signs of Spring and watch for more "Green Spring Cleaning" tricks coming your way soon :)
